Hey, Kevin Sanders here!

Welcome to the Hope Ride 2 California Edition!

I am a brain Cancer survivor and this May of 2023 I will be bicycling down the entire coast of California (nearly 1300 miles!) in celebration of my 15 years CANCER FREE!

The mission of this journey is all to show the power of HOPE! Through Cancer and after Cancer, it is the strength of HOPE that carries us through our circumstances.

I invite you to join me on this journey as I peddle away through the beautiful California coast. Each day riding in honor of your loved ones who have fought this battle with Cancer!

You can follow me along my path through GPS tracking on this site and also tune in for some blog posting here, on Instagram and Facebook! (@TheHopeRide2)

You can read my full story on the “About Me” tab!

  • Backtracking to Day 17! The day I met Daniel The Super Host!

I seriously don’t know how my hosts keep getting better and better. Daniel managed a hotel for years so he treated his home like a 5-star hotel and treated me like a VIP guest!

He was also quite the chef and made me some very delicious and filling meals! Did my laundry, gave me a comfy bed, and a warm shower. Daniel even offered to drive me over 30 miles to take around the road closures — but I had to decline as that would be cheating, must bike the whole route!

So thankful for you Daniel! Thank you for welcoming me into your 5-star home and treating me like your VIP guest!

Backtracking to Day 13 at Half Moon Bay with Mark and Audine!

Mark is an extraordinary host! He let me stay in The Little House which was like my own personal oasis! So far the only night on this trip so far that has felt like an actual mini vacation. He had so many snacks stocked up for me, he had everything I needed, and the shower… amazing! Literally took a 45 min hot shower! Check out the videos for an awesome tour of The Little House!

In the morning he invited me into his home for breakfast with him and Audin. Such incredible people!

While in his 30’s Mark’s doctor told him he needed to get healthier so he picked up running and just kept going. Since then he has earned many medals celebrating his achievement of the many completed half-marathons, marathons, and even triathlons. He LOVES hosting people and is super detailed focused on what people would need during their stay - his one rule “Don’t clean up after yourself!”. He has traveled the world and has always aimed to live life to the fullest!

Audin shared with me about her own current battle with breast cancer, which has spread to other areas in her body. She’s had many surgeries, 6 months of chemo, and she just finished a 2nd round of IV chemo about two weeks before I met her. Despite the battle, she stays strong, and grateful for each day! Audin is one true fighter! 💪🏼🎗️

So blessed to have met them both! Thank you Mark and Audin for being such incredible hosts and fun people to have breakfast with!
